World Steam was a bulletin published about ten times a year, full of details of steam working and sightings around the World, with a natural focus on East and West Germany, Austria, Poland and South Africa, but with notes from many other countries. It was stencilled and stapled and not illustrated except for a sketch (signed WILF) on the first page and useful maps showing the way to sheds and observation points. About 20 pages per issue. The page size was originally foolscap (20x33 cm), but when paper of that format became difficult to obtain, it was switched to quarto (20x25 cm) in 1974.
