Atacama is a dry and sparsely populated region in northern Chile. The arrival of the railways meant that several villages were established to serve them. Now most of the railways are gone, and the villages deserted. This is an impressive documentation of the railways and their stations, illustrated with historical photographs and contemporary ones, taken by Derek Hyland Cordingley in March 2021. A few of the lines still bring minerals from the interior to the coast. Spanish text. 192 pages 25x23 cm, high quality colour print, hardbound.
