Iconografía del Ferrocarril minero El Teniente. 1910-1970. El Teniente mine south of Santiago de Chile was the first copper mine in the Chilean Andes. The Braden Copper Company constructed a 762mm gauge railway to connect the mine at Sewell with Rancagua on the main line, 75km. This was worked by Shays and small tank locos, later diesels until closed in 1970. A variety of railcars carried workers. Electric locos on 762mm and 1435mm worked underground.
This is an impressive documentation of a fascinating operation, illustrated with a wealth of historical photographs. Spanish text. 245 pages 29x25 cm, hardbound.
