History of the railways in the Catalan capital. Barcelona-Mataró, inaugurated in 1848, was the first railway on the Iberic peninsula. It was followed by several other lines, each with their own terminal and initially without connection. The development is described until the present, excluding the arrival of the high speed lines, but the emphasis is clearly on the steam era, with many interesting photographs and contemporary maps. The text is in Catalan with a summary in Castilian (Spanish) this summary is apparently a complete translation. 385 pages 28x21 cm, hb.
